Summer Reading Workshop for Developing Readers

We are pleased to announce an online opportunity for those students who have found deeper reading comprehension to be a challenge during ordinary school conditions. Our Learning Assistance program is offering a summer format of a reading program piloted this year.

The Summer Developmental Reading Workshop is an opportunity for SHP students to increase reading fluency and comprehension over the summer months. The program, which runs from June 15- August 7th, takes an individualized approach to improving reading skills, with the ultimate goal to foster a genuine interest in reading. Students will be provided with tips for successful reading, be able to select from a diverse selection of books that are tailored toward student interest, and meet with Dr. Cannella and Ms. Snyder for reading discussions aimed to develop analytical thinking skills. Successful completion of the workshop may allow for admission to an independent, year-long project for academic credit.
