Welcome from the President

Welcome to Seton Hall Preparatory School! Proud of our school’s tradition and honored to share it with you, we are pleased that you have chosen to visit Seton Hall Prep’s website.

We have a rich history, beginning in 1856, and we are the oldest Catholic college preparatory school in New Jersey.

Seton Hall educates young men in grades nine through twelve. The Prep is administered by priests of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Newark and our primary goal is the development of the whole man in the values of the Catholic faith; spiritually, intellectually, socially and physically.

The Seton Hall Prep Community comprises a faculty of 95 men and women and a student body of approximately 975 young men from 130 localities. The Prep welcomes young men of every race, color, religious belief, national and ethnic origin who desire to be contributing members of the school family and to grow along with it. Binding this community together is the extraordinary support we enjoy from our parents, trustees, alumni and friends.

The strength of the Seton Hall Prep Community lies in the people that make it up. Our students are energetic, enthusiastic, talented, creative and concerned. Our teachers are dedicated professionals who enjoy their vocation and care for their students. This relationship between our teachers and students fosters high standards and drives each student to account for his actions. In this way, students are readied for the realities of life and the challenges that they will most certainly have to face in the future.

We propose, as an ideal, men who can realize our motto, “Hazard Zet Forward,” by boldly witnessing their faith, their hope and their love.

We invite you to visit us—on the web or in person—and to enjoy the Prep experience.

Christmas Message 2019

The season of Advent has prepared us well for the Feast of Christmas and as Saint James writes in his letter, "Be patient, therefore, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient with it until it receives the early and the late rains. You too must be patient. Make your hearts furn, for the coming of the Lord is at hand."

My Christmas message is taken from an anonymous author but nonetheless offers my true sentiments. It is entitled "My Christmas List of Blessings".

My Christmas List is more than just a way to keep track of
The special people God has brought into my life to love.
It's like a treasured scrapbook filled with pleasant memories
Of all the times God's answered prayer through friends and family.
Every name's a touchstone that leads to a place and time,
Where God has used another's heart to reach out and touch mine.
It may have happened years ago or even yesterday,
But every person on my list has changed my life some way.
Through simple conversation, a warm hug or a shared meal,
Every person on my list has helped me grow and heal,
Or laugh or love or learn or smile .... The blessings never end
As God allows our paths to cross as family and friends.
So please know that this greeting is more than a Christmas wish.
It's a "thank you" card to God for putting on my list
Each and every one whose name I've come to hold so dear ...
Those who've shown me Christmas joy each day of the year.

Be assured of my love and prayers.
Merry Christmas and a blessed 2020, from Michael Gallo and myself.
