Summer Reading & Writing Workshop

Looking for Summer opportunity to boost skills and get a jump start on next Fall?

Current Freshmen and Sophomores: Here is a Summer workshop that will help you hone your reading and writing skills so that your future assignments will impress your teachers!

Two days per week (Tuesday and Thursday) Mr. Kupferman will work with you to

Improve your ability to find the important points of reading assignments
Practice writing well-constructed and coherent essays
Construct and employ outlines to organize your ideas
Improve your proof-reading skills
Make the best use of MLA formats and guidelines

Meetings will be from Noon – 1:30 on Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning on June 22 and continuing through July 22 for a total of ten sessions.

Cost for the workshop is $400.

AGREEMENT & UNDERSTANDING

Credit:

This workshop carries no credit toward graduation and is not reported on official transcripts. Proof of attendance may be provided if requested.

Attendance:

Any absence interrupts the continuity of instruction for the student, the teacher and the other students in the class. Because of this, the school cannot condone vacations while summer school is in session. Parents should not request that students be excused from school for anything other than illness or emergency. Vacations should be scheduled to coincide with days on which classes are not scheduled.

In case of absence:

Any absence should be reported by a parent/guardian to the Summer School Office (325-7737 x6657) by 8:30 on the day of the absence. The email address is to Dr. James Incardona, jincardona@shp.org. Either form of communication is acceptable.
Students returning to summer school after an absence must report immediately to Dr. Incardona. Students must present a note explaining the reason for the absence signed by a parent/guardian.

Dress Code:

Casual clothing: shorts and t-shirts (no sleeveless) are acceptable.
