Prom

Senior Prom Contract

Dear Parent/Guardian:

With the Senior Prom season upon us, we would like to request your assistance in reviewing with your son a few points to assure that we will have a successful, problem-free, and safe prom. It is one of the highlights of a high school career, and we feel a few well chosen words will go a long way towards guaranteeing a great night.

Accordingly, please review the following with your son.

By proceeding with the online registration, you agree to the below points:

  1. The Senior Prom is a Seton Hall Prep sponsored activity. All Seton Hall Prep rules and regulations regarding the use of alcohol, tobacco, or any other illegal substance, are therefore fully in force. Should any student arrive at the prom under the influence of any illegal substance, or if any student is involved with any illegal substance while at the prom, his parents will be called immediately and requested to take him home. He will then be referred to the Dean of Men's Office for the appropriate action, which will jeopardize his enrollment at The Prep.

  2. We would request that all parents commit to the following:
    • If either a pre or post prom party is held at your home, it will be with you present at home.
    • There will be no alcohol of any kind served or consumed at that party.
    • Careful attention will be given that no alcohol is brought into your home by other students.

  3. As a parent, please be aware of where your son is attending parties both before and after the Prom and be certain that there will be parents at home adhering to this no alcohol policy. We request that parents communicate with each other in confirming party plans, parental supervision, etc.

  4. Please make certain that any rented limousines do not have in them any provision for serving alcohol. This is against the law and state, county, and local police have been making arrests in this regard and are making a concentrated effort to prevent this.

  5. Students must arrive at the Senior Prom by 8:00 pm. Students may not leave the Prom until 10:30 pm.

  6. Students must attend prom with a guest. Should a student want to attend by himself, he must speak with Mr. Durning in the Activities Office prior to the event.

  7. Any social media posts which portray any Seton Hall Prep student misrepresenting either himself of Seton Hall Prep will be referred to the Dean of Men. Appropriate disciplinary actions will be taken.

  8. No outside/personal photographers or other vendors may be hired by students to attend any portion of the Prom evening at The Legacy Castle venue.

The occurrence of this Spring activity may well provide you with an opportunity to talk with your son about responsible decision making, difficult "adult'' situations, the existence of consequences, your expectations, your child's real dilemmas, the power of peer pressure, etc.

We thank you for your cooperation in adhering to these requests. Proms are great times. Your sons deserve to have that experience in a wholesome, fun-filled, safe setting.

Questions may be directed to SHP Director of Activities, Mr. Peter Durning '06 at pdurning@shp.org.

Sincerely,
Mr. Michael G. Gallo '79, Headmaster
