Cleared for Takeoff: Class tours U.S.S. Intrepid Museum

Recently, students in the Introduction to Aerospace class learned about the properties of the air as a fluid, atmosphere pressure, airplane components, flight controls, the relationship of variables in the lift equation, and how all of these affect flight behavior.
To see how these concepts affect aircraft design, on November 2nd, the class took a field trip to the U.S.S. Intrepid Museum for a guided tour of the historic aircraft carrier and several different aircraft, including the Space Shuttle Enterprise.  Students had the opportunity to ask questions, explore various decks of the ship, and take the controls of display aircraft.

As a new course offered at Seton Hall Prep, students attend Aerospace from 8:00am-8:40am, Monday through Friday during the entire academic year. These trailblazing and dedicated students are Ethan DeJesus, George Doyle, Christopher Duff, Noah Gomez, Matthew Gritsevich, Hugh Horsey, Landon Jordan, Giancarlo Merizalde, Rocco Quilici, and John Zazzali. Accompanying the students on the field trip were Aerospace teacher, Jonathan Lace and Dean of Faculty, Lisa Sgaramella. Introduction to Aerospace is an elective offered to sophomores, juniors, and seniors in the Computer Science & Technology Department at Seton Hall Prep.
