Seton Hall Prep is New Jersey’s oldest Catholic college preparatory school. The Prep's tradition is matched by its commitment to the education of young men by teaching them to think critically, communicate effectively and become contributing members of society.
At Seton Hall Prep, students participate in many of the amazing offerings available to them outside of the classroom. This includes 15 sports, more than 70 activities and clubs, a variety of intramurals and a seemingly endless number of service projects.
“To equip the holy ones for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of faith and knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the extent of the full stature of Christ.”
Retrospective: The Prep's Spring Musicals Over The Years
As we get set for the April 27th opening night of this year's Spring Musical, Bye Bye Birdie, here's an invitation to take a look back at some of the spectacular musical moments on the Seton Hall Prep stage over the last few decades.
After years of hugely successful Minstrel type shows through the 50s and 60s, the presentation of a Broadway type musical began in the spring of 1971 as Fr. Anthony Kulig joined the staff as Dean of Men and Musical Director, heading the production of Oliver that year. Fr. Kulig remained at the helm of the musicals until 1985. The following year the production of Damn Yankees marked the beginning of the directorial career of Mr. Joseph Neglia, who produced the next 33 spring musicals.
The 3-night run of this year's Bye Bye Birdie follows on last year's rousing A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, directed by Mr. Andrew Martinez '11, who starred in his senior year production of Pirates of Penzance. Eagle-eyed viewers might also spot fellow faculty members Michael Kane '11, Michael '05 and Joe Neglia '03 in photos from earlier musicals.
