Seton Hall Prep is New Jersey’s oldest Catholic college preparatory school. The Prep's tradition is matched by its commitment to the education of young men by teaching them to think critically, communicate effectively and become contributing members of society.
At Seton Hall Prep, students participate in many of the amazing offerings available to them outside of the classroom. This includes 15 sports, more than 70 activities and clubs, a variety of intramurals and a seemingly endless number of service projects.
Educating the whole man includes teaching a true understanding of the importance of service and actually participating in the service of others in need.
The Class of 2020 Graduates at the Kelly Athletic Complex
After several months of staying at home to finish their studies in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, on July 7th The Prep's Class of 2020 gathered on the Brendan P. Tevlin Memorial Field at the KAC for a just slightly subdued celebration of their graduation...
With the weather happily cooperating and with attendance limited and seating undertaken with social distance guidelines in mind, families honored the accomplishments and reslience of the 220 seniors, who finished their Prep careers in a manner never imagined. President Msgr. Michael E. Kelly '57 and Headmaster Michael G. Gallo '79 welcomed the gathering, calling to mind the long tradition of The Prep in dealing with myriad challenges. Salutatorian Connor Cook and Valedictorian Matthew Guarnuccio both reminded their fellow graduates of how the experiences of the previous three months would steel them all for that lies ahead. Mr. Gallo and Msgr. Kelly presented three special awards to a trio of seniors— Holden Coulter received the John B. Murray Award, as the embodiment of the four pillars of SHP; Matthew Guarnuccio received the Vincent A. McIntee Award for extraordinary service to all aspects of Prep life; and Daniel Mottesi was presented the Archbishop Thomas A. Boland Most Representative Setonian Award. Once the diplomas had been distributed, with social distance laid aside for a minute or two, the event closed with a final rousing rendition of the Alma Mater. [view the photo album]
