Attendance for in-person students will be linked to the student's presence in the classroom. If an in-person student is home sick, he will still be marked absent, even if he voluntarily attends a Teams (video conferencing) meeting of the class. We do not require in-person students who are sick to attend a Teams class meeting. Our normal attendance policy stating a maximum number of absences for in-person students has been completely loosened to allow for many more absences because of the unusual circumstances this year, and the need to keep sick students home. Any excessive absence outside of these circumstances will be handled on a case-by-case basis.
Attendance for remote students will be linked to the student's virtual presence in the Teams class meeting (video conferencing) as indicated on our Remote Learning Protocol, sent with our Fall Plan.
We reserve the term "remote learning" for students who may be quarantining or staying at home for more than a few days because of COVID-related reasons. If an in-person student switches to remote learning, which he may do after his parent/guardian notifies School Counseling by phone, he will be held to the attendance policy for remote students (which includes dress code) referred to above.
A student may switch from remote to in-person learning at any time after his parent/guardian notifies School Counseling by phone.
