On February 25, 2025, Seton Hall Prep lost a cherished member of our family. Father Bill Melillo will be missed but his memory lives forever in the hearts of everyone who knew him, especially his family.

To honor Father Bill, his family would like to establish the Father Bill Melillo Memorial Scholarship Fund to celebrate his extraordinary life and ministry, whose unwavering commitment to Seton Hall Prep spanned nearly five decades. As a theology teacher, department chair, counselor, chaplain, and spiritual guide, Father Bill profoundly shaped the minds and hearts of generations of young men. His priesthood was marked by quiet compassion, deep intellect, and a joyful presence that left an indelible impact on the entire Prep community.

The scholarship seeks to carry forward Father Bill’s legacy by support students who embody his core values – faith, kindness, humility, a lighthearted spirit, academic curiosity, and servant leadership. The fund will provide tuition assistance to young men of promise who may not otherwise have the opportunity to benefit from a Seton Hall Prep education, just as Father Bill believed deeply in the transformative power of that experience.

Through the generosity of alumni, family, and friends, the Father Bill Melillo Memorial Scholarship will ensure that his spirit continues to guide The Prep, fostering new generations of scholars, athletes, and gentlemen in the tradition he so dearly cherished.

Through the generosity of The Anthony J. and Christie B. de Nicola Foundation, a matching gift challenge has been presented to The Prep community to help endow the Father Bill Melillo Memorial Scholarship Fund.
