In memory of Ted & in support of The Prep's young men...

The Ted Bonner Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in loving memory of Edward James “Teddy” Bonner, Jr. ’88 and seeks to assist students and families who have demonstrated perseverance in the face of various challenges while also demonstrating financial need.

For decades, the Bonner Family has had a special relationship with Seton Hall Prep beginning when our father, Ed, graduated in 1959. The four Bonner sons followed in his footsteps and proudly played alongside one another on the SHP ice hockey team. In addition to hockey, Teddy was a founding member of SHP’s inaugural lacrosse team at the Prep in 1987 and balanced his sports with drama participation appearing on stage in the chorus for the school’s annual musical productions.

In October 2018, we lost our beloved brother at the age of 48 to Appendix cancer. A marathon runner, cyclist, skier, and hockey player, Teddy remained active as long as his illness would allow him, even completing a 17 mile bike ride along the Jersey Shore with his brother Brian, ’86 between chemo treatments!

Ted was such a kind and earnest man with a deep heart and great sense of humor. He made friends easily and he was always willing to “go the extra mile” for his family, friends, and SHP brothers, especially if you needed a captive audience for a juicy story, or a big laugh. He left behind a twelve-year-old son, Trace, who resembles his father in so many ways; blond hair, thoughtful of others, quick to flash a big smile, and very athletic. Ted’s reputation is one of “legend” to all that knew him and were fortunate to be graced by his company, friendship, and love. He was simply the best of the best!

TED’S GOT MOVES
A virtual Move-A-Thon benefiting the Ted Bonner ’88 Memorial Scholarship Fund at Seton Hall Preparatory School. As we approach Teddy’s birthday, May 10, we would like to encourage everyone to celebrate his life. So, let’s move in May to celebrate Ted and raise funds for this scholarship. If you were lucky enough to be at a concert, wedding or party with Teddy and shared the dance floor with him, well…. then you know that TED’S GOT MOVES!

Throughout the month of May, feel free to move in whatever way works for you and your schedule. You might choose to walk, run, skate, bike or dance. Just log the hours along the way and add them all up at the end of the month. You can ask your family and friends to sponsor you by the hour or simply, sponsor yourself.

HOW IT WORKS
1. Sign-up on our "Ted's Got Moves" Movathon Registration Page.
2. Start moving! Throughout May, log your hours using our activity log.
3. By May 31st, add up how many hours you moved in May, calculate your totals and collect the dollars raised from your sponsors (if applicable).
4. Donate the total funds raised by June 10th, 2022 by using our pledge payment page.

If you are unable to participate, you can also make a direct gift by clicking the navy blue box at the bottom of this page.

If you cannot make a payment online, please send checks payable to The Ted Bonner, ’88 Scholarship Fund with “Ted’s Got Moves” in the memo to: Seton Hall Prep  Attn: Matt Cannizzo - 120 Northfield Avenue  West Orange, NJ 07052
