Fathers Club Presents Thomas A. Reynolds Award Winners

The Seton Hall Prep Fathers Club presented the Thomas A. Reynolds Award to three individuals at their Annual Family Mass & Communion Breakfast on Sunday, November 2, 2025 at the Hanover Manor. John Cerwinski P'22'25, Fathers Club Treasurer, Dave Snyder '89, P'26, Dean of Academics & Assistant Soccer Coach, and John L. Sweeney (Posthumously) '80, P'09 '11 '13, were honored in front of family, friends, and colleagues.

Mass was celebrated by SHP Chaplain, Fr. Bogumil Misiuk '08 and President Msgr. Michael E. Kelly '57. Theology teacher Mr. Larry Kupferman provided music and Headmaster Michael G. Gallo '79 and Athletic Director Larry Baggitt H'18 presented the awards. Fathers Club President, Bob DeStefano, eloquently introduced the recipients prior to John, Dave, and Connor (son of John L. Sweeney) accepting their honors and speaking to the audience.

John spoke to his initial involvement with the Fathers Club which grew from tentatively attending his first meeting to nine years of belonging and becoming the club's treasurer. Dave spoke to his journey from attending The Prep as a student, being cared for as a student by great faculty, and returning after college and a surprising but rewarding life-long career. Connor spoke to his late father's legacy helping start the Reynolds Fund, his meaningful impact as a Council President in Peapack-Gladstone, and generous matching gift challenge the Sweeney family put forward.

About the Reynolds Fund
Thomas Reynolds ’48 wasn’t just a supporter of Seton Hall Prep, he was a quiet hero. After his passing in 1979, it was discovered that he had personally paid the tuition of a student in need, allowing him to stay on the football team and continue his education. Tom’s vision was to create a fund that could step in when tragedy struck, a “guardian angel” for students facing family hardship. That dream became reality with the creation of the Thomas A. Reynolds Jr. ’48 Scholarship Fund. Please consider making a gift. In a powerful gesture of support, the Sweeney family has pledged a $20,000 matching gift, doubling the impact of every donation made toward this campaign.
