Freshman For a Day Host Survey

Dear Class of 2025,

Last year, while you were navigating the admission process, one key experience which you all were not able to partake in was a traditional Freshman for a Day.  (While our daily virtual visits were fun and certainly novel considering the circumstances, they could never replace an actual full-day on campus at The Prep.)  Fast forward to the present.  Now, as current ninth-grade students and the newest Setonians, it is your turn to create and share that experience you were never able to have!  Beginning on Monday, September 27 and lasting until the end of May, the Seton Hall Prep Admission Office (and you!) will proudly open our doors and welcome candidates for the incoming Class of 2026!  This is where we need your help.

As a Freshman for a Day host, you will be responsible for serving as a host to a current 8th (September through February) or 7th (March through May) student who wants to learn more about The Prep.  You will escort your guest to all your classes, help classes, enrichment blocks (on Fridays), activity periods, club meetings, lunch, and homeroom.  Introduce our visitor to your teachers, coaches, moderators, and friends, and – in short – share with him everything that you love about The Prep!

My goal is provide each and every member of the Class of 2025 the opportunity to participate in this exciting program.  In order for that to happen, I need you to watch the video below and then complete and submit the attached “FFAD Host Survey”.  This brief survey helps me to pair our guests with those members of your class who might share common interests, hometowns, or even middle schools.

Once the Freshman for a Day program begins in a few weeks, if you are selected to host a visitor on a specific day, you will be notified on the afternoon or evening before through the portal.  (Don’t forget to check your messages frequently!  (Ask your Peer Leaders to help you enable “notifications” for both your email and mobile devices.)  On the morning that you will be serving as host, you will need to report to the Admission Office between 8:15-8:30 (you can always come earlier if you are on campus!) to meet your guest.  At the end of the school day – please do not ask your teachers to be excused early! – you should accompany your visitor back to the Admission Office.  After you are finished hosting, we will ask you to write a quick “thank you for coming” postcard – we will provide complete details at that time!

In my eight years as Director of Admission and my 23 years as a faculty and staff member at The Prep, I can tell you that a candidate’s Freshman for a Day experience is the single most important visit he will ever make to our campus.  I cannot thank you enough – on behalf of both the Admission Office and the entire school – for your enthusiasm and willingness to help!

Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to stop down and say hello!

Hazard Zet Forward,

Mr. Z
