With more than a decade of experience in the education field, Ben began his career within the undergraduate admissions department at Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, NJ. While at Stevens, eventually serving as the Associate Director of Undergraduate Admissions, Ben was able to understand the often complicated inner workings of the college admissions process at a prestigious institution. At Stevens, Ben’s scope of responsibilities included recruitment, marketing, communications, training of admissions counselors, event planning, athletics and managing the admissions ambassador programs. Ben also reviewed applications submitted from Seton Hall Prep students.

In 2013 Ben decided to move to the other side of the desk, joining The Prep as the Director of College Placement. In this role, Ben fosters strong relationships with admissions representatives throughout the country and has visited a breadth of college campuses throughout the United States. Ben attends regional and national conferences and admissions sponsored events to continually hone his knowledge of the admissions landscape. Ben has a deeply rooted passion in providing Prep students and families with a comprehensive, detailed and strategic program which facilitates a calm, enjoyable and fruitful college planning process.

Ben received his undergraduate degrees in Finance and Marketing from Syracuse University and his master's degree in Global Innovation Management from Stevens Institute of Technology.

Ben lives in Kinnelon, NJ with his wife Brooke and daughters Madison and Lilly.

Barbara Farley

Barbara has been a fixture within the Seton Hall Prep community since joining in 1987. Prior to her tenure in College Placement, Barbara also worked in both the Guidance and Development offices. In her current role, Barbara works closely with students on the submission of college related documents; ensuring that all application materials are received successfully.

Barbara also organizes many aspects of College Placement events for students and parents, manages the Seton Hall Prep college visit calendar and facilitates the many community scholarships available to Seton Hall Prep students.

Barbara has Seton Hall Prep blue in her family as her son Christopher Farley is part of the class of ’92.

Tom Falato, MA

Tom’s experience within the education field spans over 40 years as a teacher, coach and counselor. He began his career as an English teacher at his alma mater, Emerson Junior-Senior High School in Emerson, NJ. Tom then moved on to Ridge High School as a Guidance Counselor and the Head Football Coach. During that time, Tom worked primarily with college counseling for upperclassmen. It was during his tenure that the Ridge High School College Program developed into one of the most accomplished in the state of New Jersey. After leaving Ridge, Tom spent two years at Delbarton School as the Director of Guidance, supervising grades 7-12 as well as the college counseling program. Tom went on to work in college counseling at both Bergen Catholic High School & Immaculata High School prior to joining The Prep community in 2018 as a College Placement Counselor.

Tom earned his undergraduate degree from Lebanon Valley College and his Masters in Administration and Supervision as well Student Personnel Services from Montclair State University.

Tom and his wife Diane are the proud parents of four children Katie (United States Military Academy ’01), Bobby (The College of New Jersey ’05), Elyse (Fashion Institute of Technology ’12) and Tim (Seton Hall University ’16). They also have four grandchildren Maria, Johnny, Marcus and Anthony.
