Featured Activities
With an ever-changing list of over 60 active clubs each year, the Seton Hall Prep Student Activities Program can appeal to the interests of all of our students, and these Featured Activities gives an in-depth look at some of the Prep's most popular and successful clubs and organizations.

Fine & Performing Arts

The Annual Fall Drama Production brings together a wide-ranging mix of students and interests: members of the Theater Arts Classes, students with a desire to find a place on stage, and female friends from neighboring schools. • Noises Off [2007]
  • Moon Over Buffalo [2006]
  • Harvey [2005]
  • Rumors [2004]
  • Don't Drink the Water [2003]
  • Of Mice and Men [2002]
  • One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest [2001]
  • To Kill a Mockingbird [2000]
  • Noises Off [1999]
  • Fools [1998]
  • Odd Couple [1997]
  • Our Town [1996]
  • Inherit the Wind [1995]

Student Council

The SHP Student Council is a multifaceted organization with a number of responsibilities on campus.   The members of the student council represent student interests and are invited to discuss ideas and concerns with the SHP administration.  Often, the best insight about The Prep comes from the students themselves, and the Student Council is the elected voice of the school.  They are also the driving force behind school-wide events and fundraisers in which the entire student body is invited to participate, such as formal dances, dodgeball and basketball tournaments, and coffeehouses.  The executive board of the student council consists of four seniors elected to positions of president, vice-president, secretary and treasurer, and one elected class representative from each of the junior, sophomore, and freshman classes.  However, all students are invited to participate in and assist at Student Council events, so the only real requirement to be part of the SHP Student Council is a desire to get involved!

The Pirate Newspaper

The Pirate, the SHP student-run newspaper, is the primary source for Prep news on campus.  Written and edited by students, the Pirate, now based exclusively online, is updated live with new information and articles as they are written and submitted.  Keep up with Prep athletic teams, get student reviews of new music and films, meet new faculty and staff members, and get insights into the many aspects of life at Seton Hall Prep through the eyes of our students.

Mock Trial

The SHP Mock Trial Team is one of our most successful competitive academic teams, practicing multiple times a week through the fall and winter for their competition each January.  Dedicated students with a genuine interest in law and legal try-out for different roles in an assigned court case and compete at the Newark Courthouse against other teams' prepared cases.  Students fill roles from defense and prosecuting attorneys to witnesses to jurors in the court scenario, and each student must diligently prepare for his role to ensure a successful performance at the competition.  During practices, students work with volunteer lawyers from the Prep community, learning the details of their role in the competition and, therefore, and the legal system and professions in legal fields.

Professional Development Club

Unique to Seton Hall Prep, our three professional clubs, The Future Lawyers Club, The Future Medical Leaders Club, and the Future Business Leaders Club, help expose students to people working in these professions.  Each club brings in one speaker per month to present their roles in the fields of business, law, and medicine, to students.  Not only do students get to learn about a myriad of professions within these fields, but they have the opportunity to ask questions, form relationships, and even find internship opportunities!
