Matthew Cannizzo '90 Accepts Role at the University of Notre Dame

Seton Hall Prep is incredibly grateful and thankful to Matt Cannizzo ’90 for 25 years of service to The Prep, and wishes him blessings and success as he takes on a new role at the University of Notre Dame.
Matt served as the Director of Institutional Advancement at The Prep for the last seven years and was pivotal in reaching and exceeding fundraising goals during his tenure. Prior to his role in Institutional Advancement, he helped bolster enrollment as Director of Admissions upon returning to his alma mater in 1997, where he also established the Ambassadors Organization and International Program.

“It has been both a privilege and an honor to work with such a dedicated individual who put Seton Hall Prep first in all of his endeavors,” said President, Msgr. Michael E. Kelly ‘57.  “Matt’s dynamic personality and caring nature served The Prep well in his dual roles at the school, first as Director of Admissions for 17 years and most recently as Director of Advancement for seven years. Matt’s many contributions and impact have made this school a better place. We wish him, his wife Sarah, son Nathaniel ’21 and daughter Grace, all the best as he embarks on this new role, and will miss the Cannizzo family dearly.”

Headmaster Michael G. Gallo ’79 added, “It has been an honor working with Matt. I remember giving him and his family a tour of The Prep in 1985 before his freshman year as a student, and it has been a pleasure watching him grow and achieve incredible success in a variety of roles at our school. I wish him all the best at Notre Dame in his new role.”

Reflecting on his time at Seton Hall Prep, Matt said, “It’s been the honor of my life to serve at my high school alma mater and with Monsignor Kelly, as well as with wonderful colleagues who have become part of my family along the way. It’s overwhelming to think about all of the remarkable people I have crossed paths with on this extraordinary journey; people who have enriched and transformed my life for the better. I am incredibly grateful for all of the love, support, opportunity and friendship that has come my way because of Seton Hall Prep and its amazing community.”

Matt will remain on staff until July 23, 2021 to help ensure a smooth and successful transition for The Prep and the Office of Institutional Advancement.

Thank you and Hazard Zet Forward.
