Seton Hall Prep is New Jersey’s oldest Catholic college preparatory school. The Prep's tradition is matched by its commitment to the education of young men by teaching them to think critically, communicate effectively and become contributing members of society.
At Seton Hall Prep, students participate in many of the amazing offerings available to them outside of the classroom. This includes 15 sports, more than 70 activities and clubs, a variety of intramurals and a seemingly endless number of service projects.
Educating the whole man includes teaching a true understanding of the importance of service and actually participating in the service of others in need.
Goals by Lucas Ross and Drew Ligotti four minutes apart in the first half gave fourth-seeded Seton Hall Prep, No. 11 in the NJ.com Top 20, the lead it never relinquished as the Pirates stormed past #2 seed St. Peter’s for the NJSIAA Northeast Non-Public title at the Caven Point Athletic Complex in Jersey City. Charles Giordano added an insurance goal when he scored on a penalty kick in the 70th minute and Noah Cueva scored in the 76th minute. Tomas Hut had three saves and Aidan Batista had one to combine on the shutout, the team’s seventh of the year...
The Prep hadn’t played in three weeks before outlasting No. 17 Montclair Kimberley, 1-0, in overtime in Tuesday’s quarterfinals, following it up with a 2-0 victory over No. 14 Bergen Catholic. “Because of the two quarantines, we really didn’t hit our stride until the postseason,” Coach Marty Berman said. “Normally, we’d be going into the county and state tournaments with 15-18 games under our belt. Coming into this postseason with only seven games it did kinda take us a while to hit our stride. That’s what makes today so much more special. It came together in 10 games instead of 20.” “The beginning of the season was a bit rough, but we started playing really well right at the right time and we won because of it,” said Ligotti. “This is a perfect way to end it.” [view the photos]
