Seton Hall Prep is New Jersey’s oldest Catholic college preparatory school. The Prep's tradition is matched by its commitment to the education of young men by teaching them to think critically, communicate effectively and become contributing members of society.
At Seton Hall Prep, students participate in many of the amazing offerings available to them outside of the classroom. This includes 15 sports, more than 70 activities and clubs, a variety of intramurals and a seemingly endless number of service projects.
Educating the whole man includes teaching a true understanding of the importance of service and actually participating in the service of others in need.
On Wednesday at a lunchtime gathering in Bayley Seton Auditorium, dozens of students and several teachers offered up their locks to the shears of a dozen guest barbers to raise money for cancer research. Spurred on by Director of Service Learning Vinnie McMahon, the 8th Annual Buzz-Off, parlayed with the February Tag Day, raised more than $5500. The funds will be distributed among the Valerie Fund, Leukemia & Lymphoma Socciety, American Cancer Society and Minnett’s Angels. Spearheading the effort were Prep seniors Garret Fitschen, Jackson Kashuba, Danny Mottesi and junior Ian Schwartz. The volunteer barbers included Krista and Gregory Turchiano CP'20, Erica Vitale, Terrence Sekel CP '21, Marie Guarnuccio CP '20, Damian Schwartz CP '21, Sandy Ronzo, Andrea Russo-Freijomil CP '21, Eva Betro CP '20 and Buzz-Off veteran William Babcock.
