Fathers Club Honors Prep Trio in the Name of Thomas A. Reynolds '48

On Sunday, November 2, The Fathers Club and Seton Hall Prep celebrated the organization’s Annual Family Communion Breakfast at Mayfair Farms in West Orange with a gathering of close to 200 SHP community members. President Msgr. Michael Kelly celebrated Mass, joined at the altar by former Headmaster Msgr. Robert Harahan, Chaplain Rev. James White and former faculty member Msgr. Edward Bradley...
Following the Mass, Fathers Club President Michael Monteleone introduced Msgr. Kelly to present the organization's most cherished award, the Thomas A. Reynolds Memorial Award, awarded in the name of the Thomas A. Reynolds ’48, one of the early presidents of the organization, whose leadership propelled the club into the arena of major financial support of The Prep and whose untimely death In 1979 has led to the club’s support, through the Thomas A. Reynolds Scholarship Fund, of students who suffer the loss of a parent or guardian during their Prep careers. The award is presented annually by the Fathers Club to individuals whose lives and careers have impacted The Prep and its students, after the model of Tom Reynolds— they “exemplifiy the Christian tradition in every facet of their relationships with their fellows; have consistently shown themselves to be devoted to the welfare of the student body at The Prep, and have consistently remained active members of The Prep community beyond the usual degree of involvement.” This year’s honorees were Msgr. Robert E. Harahan, Prep science teacher Michael Smircich ’09 and current Yale junior Brian Tevlin ’17.
