Well-known artist David Hockney makes images out  of dozens, sometimes hundreds of photographs, pasted together in such a way as to give a mosaic, even kaleidoscopic view of the subject. His self-portrait [at left] is typical of his technique.. Members of the class followed his lead in depicting objects and places from their own experience.
