A day off was built into the middle of the tournament schedule, providing a practice
day and a chance to rest some bumps and bruises collected in last night's game. Following the 11 am workout at McAlister Field House, the team headed off for some heated competition at a Charleston bowling alley. A
player's draft the previous night had set up the teams, and althought the scores might not have been too high, the competitive juices flowed nonetheless. Some unanticipated problems did develop as Andrews constantly
tried to pass the 14 pound ball to Pusar, Harvey and Wujciak kept getting in the way of their opponents and Costner would try to swat away Curry's shot. |

Monday, when they battle the winner of the Bishop England-West Ashley game at The Citadel`s McAlister Field House. The extra day off is a blessing and a curse for the Pirates` Brandon Costner, who
has been slowed this season by mononucleosis. The rest helps him, but the waiting part bugs him. [continues on RoundballClassic site >>>] |

Roundball Continues to Gain Prominence BY PHILIP M. BOWMAN, of The Post and Courier Staff [Charleston] Danny Kassis flipped a switch Monday afternoon to show the audience a commercial promoting this year`s Red Cross-Rotary Roundball Classic, and, voila, nothing
happened. "Well, it is a great commercial, but it looks like you`ll have to wait until this afternoon to see it on television," Kassis said after a few failed attempts to get the
commercial rolling during a press conference. "It`s not working." That`s about the only glitch Kassis has experienced since taking over as the tournament director in 2000. He`s built on
what Rosser Thrash created, and the Roundball Classic has become one top five high school basketball tournaments in the United States. [continues on RoundballClassic site >>>] |
