One of the lessons learned early on in Photo Class is that, unless you have fully committed to digital
manipulation of images [ie, making stuff up that never was there] you are pretty much "stuck" with the hand you're dealt. Such was the case on Friday April 15 when a few hardy members of the
Photo Class set out on the annual visit to Branchbrook Park's showcase event for the start of the cherry blossoms' blooming.
Early spring rains, and a week of cool temps had conspired to cause
the group to show up about two days before what would have been the optimal day, with a significant percentage of the trees still guarding their buds waiting for a few additional degrees of
temperature to set them off.
Nevertheless, we all came home with some memorable images, and evidence that, in accord with the judgement of many, Newark's Branchbrook tops Washington DC when it
comes to this springtime display.
