Message from the Headmaster
Dear Seton Hall Prep Friends, Families and Alumni, I know that all of us at Seton Hall Prep and the extended community are devastated
after the shocking events that took place last Tuesday. Our prayers and sympathy go out to those families who have lost loved ones in this tragic act of terrorism. It is in these times that we at
Seton Hall Prep remain hopeful that our faith community will sustain us through this difficult time. Our lives have been changed and it may be many days before the dimensions of this tragedy are fully
realized. We as a community will grieve for the fallen and we must find the strength in one another to renew a world of peace and justice. I ask that all of us keep remembering in prayer those
who died and those who remain missing. Our faculty and students have gathered numerous times in prayer over the past week and we will unite in a Memorial Mass in the near future. I assure you that we
at Seton Hall Prep will offer the strength of the faculty and staff as resources to assist our alumni community during this time. This is a moment of untold sorrow and loss, and I hope we will all take
care to support all members of our community during this terrible incident in the life of our nation and the world. If you have any information on the status of Seton Hall Prep alumni or are looking to
find an alumnus, please contact us. God bless you, Msgr. Michael E. Kelly '57 With profound sorrow and sympathy to our families I advise you of the death of—

Seton Hall Prep pulls together following the attacks in NYC and Washington
In response to the World Trade Center Tragedy on Tuesday, September 11th, the Seton Hall Prep community made an immediate initial donation of $1472.81 worth of supplies to the relief effort by
Friday morning. Many thanks to all those who have already made generous donations. Our collection of money will continue over the next few weeks in hopes that our community can surpass
the $5000 mark. Anyone who would like to contribute can make a check out to Seton Hall Prep and send it to Mr. Chris Barnitt at 120 Northfield Ave, West Orange, NJ 07052. Check back at a later
date and see if there are other ways to contribute to the cause. p 13. Ledger- 09.19.01
The days after September 11th's tragedy have
been ones of great pain and sorrow. Thankfully, the love and prayers of our community have been palpable and have helped some of us make it through these dark days. There have been many that have
expressed their desire to do more to assist those who have been affected by the tragedy. Your outpouring of concern and energy is inspiring. The following actions would be of
great help to the ongoing relief effort. We ask you to consider participating in one or all of the following if your are capable.
- 1. Continue to pray for those affected and for the world.
- 2. Donate Blood—this applies fo all who are 17 years of age and older. 17 year-olds need parental permission. There will be a blood drive at the Prep
in late September or early October. It was suggested that that time period will be critical in renewing the blood supply depleted by the emergency. For other immediate donation
locations call 1.800.bloodnj.
- 3. Make a monetary donation. Seton Hall is happy to direct these donations to relief organizations, that are in desperate need of money. Watch for collection cans/boxes in
the front hallway and in the cafeteria. Checks can be made payable to Seton Hall Prep, and put in Mr. Barnitt's [Director of Service Learning for Social Justice] mailbox.
- 4. In the event that other opportunities to assist present themselves, please see Mr. Barnitt so that he has a pool of individuals we can activate when they are needed. Our
school has been added to a list of willing communities in the event that volunteers are needed. Students who have ideas on how we can respond as a community should se Mr.
Barnitt, or call him at 973.325.6664.
