• 10.9.04The Class of 2008, in school for three weeks
now, and getting into the routine of classes, tests, assignments and the like, has been chomping at the bit to put their newfound spirit to the test. Freshman Field Day, this year conducted under brilliant
sun and azure skies at the Kelly Athletic Complex, gave the 19 homerooms a chance to put their competitive spirits to the test. This year, sporting homeroom designed uniforms [or costumes?], with their
senior Peer Leaders stalking the sidelines, the frosh took part in volleyball, touch football and half a dozen kinds of relays. The day concluded back at campus with a lunch and tug-of-war.

Summer renovations to the KAC fieldhouse by the coaching and maintenance staff have turned
it into a model training facility for Prep students, whether team members or simply students looking to get in shape.

• 09.14.04The winner has been announced of the
"Bleed Blue All Over the Place"
Contest, sponsored during the second half of last year by the Office of Communications. Zach Sproull's visit to London's Big Ben garnered him the "Best Shot" prize of $50. Other notable entries included William DeRose's visit to Lord Stanley's Cup, Chris Schneider's portrait with the Mona Lisa at the Louvre and AJ Donno's album from the western US.
Alas, there were no takers on the second contest– "Bleed Blue With the Rich and Famous." Nobody could get a photo with George Bush or Derek Jeter or Gisele Bundchen. Hopefully that will be corrected
in the coming year as the pair of contests are about to re-start for 2004-05. For rules click here >>>

• 09.06.04The Class of 2008 finally arrived, and
got off to a running start. The Peer Leaders helped get the freshmen organized and began the process of building a community among the newest members of the Prep Family.
[photos] The freshmen
received [and, of course, compared] their schedules; received books, school shirts and supplies; set up their computer accounts; went on tour with their Peer Leaders; met some school staff, including
Director of Guidance Mr. Tom Cregan; had a chance to learn some new names within their homeroom group; and, most mysterious of all for some, delved into the intricacies of opening a combination lock. |

• 08.30.04The Prep's Peer Leadership Program has taken
on an important job for the school community. Their primary responsibility is to shepherd the newest Setonians, the 235 freshmen in the Class of 2008, through their first year at The Prep. As leaders of the
homeroom program, 38 seniors will have to deal with all manner of issues that confront their 14-year old charges. Consequently, each year the Peer Leaders embark on a 3-day retreat at the Fairview YMCA
Center in north western NJ to prepare themselves While the pictures may make it look like their time away was all fun and games, the activities were mainly designed to teach and develop the communication,
problem-solving and team-building skills that they will emply during the year. The final morning was spent locked away from adult supervision to reach unanimous decisions on the make-up of the 19 teams
that will head each homeroom. They will meet their frosh on the latter's first day, September 9.
