The newly renovated Training Facility at the Kelly Athletic Complex.

The multi-faceted six month project, the brainchild of Prep Trainer Larry Baggitt, came on-line during the summer, providing a first-class facility to be enjoyed by the hundreds of Prep team members and students looking to get in shape. With input from all areas of the Prep coaching staff, Mr. Baggitt put together the design of a training facility which began with the tossing out of tons of weight equipment that had been collected over the last decade, but which was shopworn and many times in need of repair. The new Samson equipment includes apparatus for stretching and plyometrics as well as a separate weight training area. The huge job, which began with the replacement of the floor and the joists beneath, also includes new lighting, a new ceiling, a new trainer's room for treatment and taping, and an "upper deck" office area designed by  Frank Tone of the Maintenance Department for the coaching staff. A future fine-tuning of the design will include a large window in the wall to allow the supervision of the practice field. The equipment includes four double power stations [for  ten athletes per station], two single stations, a pair of 4-way neck stations, a pair of leg machines, lat and triceps stations, lumbar extension machines, scores of dumbbells and new benches. Add to that around five tons of weight plates. In addition, a new speed development "treadmill" called Tsled, currently utilized by Rutgers University, was put in place.
The new brighter and more inviting facility, has a 30-foot Prep logo as its centerpiece. It was painstakingly hand painted by Head Football Coach John Finnegan, Assistant Coach Dennis Gunn and X-C Coach Steve Trembley. Assistant Football Coach and Dean of Men Mark Smith, and other Prep coaches, also organized their teams to help move the heavy equipment in and out. Stan Frankowski, chief engineer on the recent Dining Hall project, contributed heavy equipment to help set up the room when the tons of material were delivered in a tractor trailer. Much of the organization of labor was headed by Director of Physical Plant and Dean of Men Michael Gallo.
Many individuals and organizations helped raise the funds needed to pull off the project. The Mothers Club, Fathers Club, the Baggit Weight Training Fund, Pepsi, the Wrestling Team, the Lacrosse Team and the Prep Athetic Department all contributed to cover the six-figure tab.
