Peer Leaders and the Class of 2006 at Orientation

After their preparation [below] in August, the Peer Leaders were rarin' to go and meet their freshman classes. While the frosh were in the Auditorium, their early morning confab gave them an opportunity to get organized and to see their class lists for the first time.

After the freshmen were handed off to the seniors, the newly formed homeroom groups found their way around the building, getting the lay of the land, schedules, books and supplies, and logging on for the first time to the school's recently upgraded computer network.

Peer Leaders Close the Summer
in Preparation for their Year-long Job

The last  week of August was, for SHP's Peer Leaders, a time of preparation for a most important responsibility. Their job during the upcoming year would be to ensure that the incoming Class of 2006 becomes fully integrated into the Prep Community. As such, they will have charge of the Freshman Homeroom Program.

Becoming a big brother to 15 freshmen is not something one would like to go into unprepared. Consequently, the three day retreat at the Fairview YMCA Camp near Stillwater was an opportunity to experience the team-building and leadership skills and activities that have over the years proved effective in helping the freshmen come to appreciate the Seton Hall experience.

The group of 42 seniors finished off their stay with a convention that culminated in their chosing 2-man teams that would work together with each homeroom. The 3 hour meeting tested their mettle as well as their negotiating skills, to come up with 21 sets of complimentary personalities that could stand up to the rigors of the year-long assignment.

They were accompanied on their stay by Program Director Theresa Neglia, Steve Ricciardi and Matt Cannizzo.
