Twenty-four teams of 7th and 8th graders from throughout northern New Jersey arrived early Saturday
morning for the first of three preliminary rounds of competition, making this one of the largest turnouts in the 12-year history of the tournament. The initial two hours of competition set
up the noontime playoffs.
Advancing through the preliminary rounds were: Deerfield School, St. Vincent DePaul (Stirling), Academy of Our Lady (Glen Rock), St. Joseph School
(Mendham), Our Lady of Sorrows (So. Orange), Warren Township MS, Holy Spirit School (Pequannock), Eastern Christian MS (Wycoff),
Advancing to the Final Four were Deerfield, St. Vincent,
Academy of Our Lady, and St. Joseph's.The Final Round was a well-fought battle between the eventual Champion Deerfield (9200 points) and St. Vincent (8400) |
